Meet the Educators
Our educational team is comprised of qualified academics and experienced herbalists. Their expertise has significantly contributed to the college's leading position in the field of herbal medicine. Utilising both traditional and contemporary knowledge, they have created excellence in herbal medicine education.
Meet the professionals who have contributed to the creation of the course material, as well as those who work tirelessly in the college clinic and as tutors. All are committed to shaping the next generation of leaders in herbal medicine.
Explore CoursesHelen Begadon MH Ir PG Cert (Ed)
Helen Begadon is the founder of The Irish School of Herbal Medicine and also the Course Director.
She has been practising Herbal Medicine and Iridology since the early 1980s. She holds a higher certificate in Online Education.
She has a profound passion for treating horses with herbal medicine and Iridology, and her work has taken her around Ireland and to various parts of the world to practise this speciality.
David Christopher BA MH AGH
David Christopher received his degree from Brigham Young University and his Masters from The School of Natural Healing in the USA.
The School, of which he is currently the Director, was founded in 1953 by his father, Dr John R. Christopher, the most renowned American herbalist of the twentieth century.
Following in this tradition, David presents seminars and lectures throughout the USA and Europe and has published widely on herbal medicine.
Dr. Fionnuala O’Neill PhD
Dr. Fionnuala O’Neill is a Plant Scientist and Ecologist whose special area of interest is the preservation of the natural woodlands and grasslands of Ireland.
She is the module leader and author of the Botany and Plant Chemistry modules on the Herbal Medicine programme and organises field trips for plant identification in various natural environments.
Here she has an opportunity to communicate her passion for plants to the students.
Dr. Brian Clement PhD
Dr. Brian Clement is a prolific author and Director of the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida, USA, where he has been working for forty years.
The centre claims success in the treatment of serious illnesses using living food programmes and wheatgrass therapy.
Brian has lectured in over 25 countries around the globe. Brian is the inspiration behind the School's nutrition programme.
Dr. Stephen Gascoigne MB ChB C.Ac Dip. CHM
Dr. Stephen Gascoigne qualified in medicine in the UK in 1976, and worked in hospital and general practice for over six years. During this time, he became interested in holistic healing.
He also trained in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Shanghai and London and is the author of, among others, a book on the subject of a holistic perspective on clinical medicine.
Stephen is the module leader and author of the Clinical Sciences modules on the Herbal Medicine programme.
Jenny Dunne MH, Ir
Jenny Dunne has been working with the Core College as a clinician and a tutor for fifteen years. .
Jenny also has a background in art education and is a mother of three. Jenny's interest lies in family herbalism and in helping families adopt a healthy lifestyle.
In the clinic, Jenny's expertise and empathetic approach have earned her respect, making her an indispensable asset to both the team and the patients she serves.
David Judah MH, Ir
David Judah is a Master Herbalist and also the clinical supervisor and Course Coordinator at the College.
David graduated as a Yoga Instructor with the Sivananda Institute in India.
He also teaches the Reflexology programme at the School.
As the Course Coordinator, David has an unwavering focus on student welfare and a commitment to serving students' needs on a daily basis, making him an invaluable cornerstone of the educational journey at the College.
Anny O’Neill BSc (Hon) HDip (Ed) RGN
Anny O’Neill is a busy Master Herbalist and Colonic irrigation Therapist. She graduated from the college fore than 16 years ago.
In the past she was a nurse in intensive care nursing for some years in Ireland and Australia.
Anny has also taught Anatomy and Physiology for nurses at Brighton University in the UK.
She is the module leader of the Human Sciences modules on many of the courses taught at the College.
Ciara Murphy RGN MH Ir
Ciara Murphy is a Registered Nurse, Master Herbalist, Iridologist, Reflexologist, and Colon Hydrotherapist.
She is one of the early graduates of the Herbal Medicine programme at the College.
Ciara, who also worked in Australia as a nurse, currently runs a very busy practice as a herbalist in Blackrock, County Dublin.
She is the module leader and author of the Pathophysiology module on the Herbal Medicine programme.
